How to use them

  • Pick the right format. WAV is lossless and best for editing and mixing. OGG is smaller, which suits game builds and the web; check that your target platform plays Ogg Vorbis.
  • Audition in context. A sound that works on headphones can be too loud or too bright next to your music. Set levels in the project, not in isolation.

  • Keep the originals. Edit copies, so you can always go back to the file as delivered.

Free assets come with the same Standard licence as everything else on AssetLoom. In short:

  • use them in personal and commercial projects: games, apps, videos, websites and client work;
  • modify them as much as you like, and sell physical prints made from 3D files;
  • no attribution required and no expiry;
  • don't resell, share or re-upload the files themselves, changed or unchanged.

Questions

Can I use these sound effects in YouTube videos?
Yes, including monetised videos, podcasts, ads and client work. The Standard licence covers videos and broadcast media as well as games and apps.
Should I use the WAV or the OGG files?
Use WAV while editing and mixing, because it is lossless. Use OGG where file size matters, such as game builds and websites, as long as your platform plays Ogg Vorbis.
Are these assets really free?

Can I use free assets in commercial projects?

No. Attribution is not required, though we always appreciate it.
Can I use them to train an AI model?
